How to install the windows version of Elle (runs under Windows XP, Windows Vista on a PC or equivalents via Parallels Systems on a Macintosh)
1) Download the Elle Windows installer ElleWinSetup.exe (18Mb)
2) Double click on the file you have downloaded and follow the instructions
If you want to use Sybil to visualise experiments that use the Basil Finite Element Model (recommended)
1) Download the Cygwin installer Setup.exe (800Kb) from the Cygwin site http://www.cygwin.com
2) Install Cygwin, making sure you select the X Windows components (i.e; make sure the xorg-x11-xwin packages are checked on when you get to the list of programs to install:
YOU WILL ALSO NEED TO INSTALL LESTIF USING THE CYGWIN INSTALLER
3) Download the Sybil installer CygSybSetup.exe (1Mb)
4) Double click on the file you have downloaded and follow the instructions to install ONLY the Sybil Files, not the Minimum Cygwin Installation.
5) The first time you run Sybil, your firewall may offer to block the X Server, DO NOT ALLOW IT TO DO SO OR SYBIL WILL NOT RUN!
If you want to install the Gimp Graphics package (needed if you want to create your own Elle microstructure input files):
1) Download gtk+-2.10.6-1-setup.exe (5Mb) and install
2) Download gimp-2.2.13-i586-setup-1.exe (7Mb) and install
